The horizon is black mountain tops and the sky is a dark, earthy orange. A few black clouds texture the sky and if you look closely you can see a jet and its contrail refelecting a little slash of white.

Ho-hum, another Montana sunset, May 5, 2008

If you find yourself in Western Montana, go find your free Spring issue of Edible Missoula. This new quarterly magazine focuses on local foods and helps spread the notion of the locavore, one who eats as locally as possible.

I love the fact that people have come to question, for example, the act of buying strawberries flown in from South America. I'll brag that my kids and I proudly ate scrambled egg sandwiches last Saturday with eggs from local chickens and bread from the Great Harvest Bread Company's Montana grain.

And, I noticed that Ari Levaux is a contributor to Edible Missoula. Very nice. I hope Ari will keep his "Fawn Slayer" bit out of this new mag. Ari, as a fellow hunter, we gotta have a talk, man. Hunters now have an opportunity to be seen as noble locavores, harvesting wild game with respect and honor, but you ain't helpin'.
