While snooping around in the back country early Sunday morning I bumped six of these mountain chickens. They were all quite vocal. And so was the bull elk below me. He seemed to be tuning up his bugle and I took careful notes on the wind, topography, the sun position, and the many piles of bear scat filled with huckleberries.
