2009 Montana Monster Whitetail

Montana Monster Whitetail, November 21, 2009

"Whenever I see a photograph of some sportsman grinning over his kill, I am always impressed by the striking moral and aesthetic superiority of the dead animal to the live one."
-Edward Abbey

I'll never argue that one, Ed.

Binoculars and boots: This beautiful whitetail buck came off of public land near Notellum Ridge. He's a heavy 7x6 and MC's quick score gave it a 158. I couldn't be happier and once again I feel very thankful to live in the land of the North American conservation model. Best of all, this was my six year old son's first ever hunt with me and HE took the picture! SO AWESOME! SUPER hiker and super kid, that kid!

Remember, the natural process goes on and on. Today, the lucky ones get to participate, we are blessed, hopefully we can "pass it on" to our children in the face of major planetary changes, and then we die too.
